Investigate mysterious radio signals

OXENFREE II: Lost Signals is an indie game developed by Night School Studio. As the name suggests, this is the second installment of the adventure game of the same name. Here, the new protagonist, Riley, returns to her hometown of Camena to investigate a mysterious radio signal. However, she finds more than what she bargained for.

Aesthetic-wise, Lost Signals will remind players of the first Oxenfree game right off the bat. Although, the developers added a lot of subtle changes to the game to make it feel more modern and different. Moreover, it also has a different story.

What is OXENFREE II: Lost Signals?

The Oxenfree is a supernatural mystery adventure game that offers a coming-of-age story of paranormal spookiness. However, it has some weird stuff sprinkled in along the way. Here, you play a character and investigate a series of mysterious events. Lost Signals holds in the sequel. However, it will not follow the protagonist of the first game. Instead, it will star Riley, one of the members of Alex's game.

Riley is a girl in her 30s, which means she will have a unique perspective on the events that unfold in the game. As she has experience under her belt, her choices will not be those of a bright-eyed child. Moreover, as she is going through her second major life change, her choices and actions still weigh the past on them.

As with any sequel, the is expected to build upon the strengths of the original game while introducing new elements to enhance the gameplay experience. It may feature improved graphics, refined mechanics, and a continuation of the captivating storytelling that made its predecessor popular.

As mentioned, although the aesthetic of Lost Signal is the same as its predecessor, the look is more modern. Parallax scrolling in the background makes the setting more cinematic. Not only that, but the inclusion of the radio communicator allows Riley to talk to various people on the island. This allows the game to change the formula of its predecessor.

Is the game good?

Overall, OXENFREE II: Lost Signals is a good game to play if you love the first Oxenfree game. It has the same core pillar as the previous one, where you solve a mystery revolving around the map. However, the characters and story will be different. With this, the entire experience will be more like a stand-alone game rather than an extension.
